Heat Wave Threatens the Lives of Tourists in Greece

Despite the absence of an official pronouncement it is speculated that the deaths are the product of the heat wave that hits the entire Balkan country.
Since the beginning of June, at least 10 tourists have been found dead or dissapear along the Greek archipelago, mainly in Crete.

Despite the absence of an official pronouncement it is speculated that the deaths are the product of the heat wave that hits the entire Balkan country.
The most recently reported death was that of a 68-year-old German hiker, who disappeared during Sunday hours, to be found in Crete on Monday. According to local media, the body of the man (whose name has not been revealed) was in an area inaccessible for access on foot and helicopters had to be used for its rescue.
Days ago, on 19 June, on the same island, a Dutchman was found dead in his car, on the edge of a cliff.
Around the same time, an 80-year-old Belgian tourist was found by hotel workers in the town of Lato, Crete.
One of the most notable cases is that of BBC presenter Michael Mosley, whose body was found on Symi Island on 9 June.
In addition to the deceased, two French women aged 73 and 64 have been missing on the island of Sikinos for more than a week, while a 59-year-old American visiting the island of Amorgos has been missing since 11 June.
Faced with all these declines by extreme heat waves the Greek public health authorities issued warnings about the risks of high temperatures and advised against staying outdoors during the hottest hours of the day.
